How our weight management service works

Weight-management medicines act on the appetite signals between your gut and your brain, so you feel full sooner and stay full for longer. They are prescription-only, they are not right for everyone, and they work only alongside changes to food and activity. We start with a consultation and, where they are needed, blood tests. We do not start with a prescription. Which medicine is appropriate, if any, is a clinical decision made with you at your appointment.

Assessment first

Every programme starts with a thirty-minute consultation, so decisions rest on your history, your measurements and your results rather than on a form.

Prescribing where appropriate

If medication is clinically suitable it is prescribed by a registered prescriber and dispensed by our registered partner pharmacy. If it is not suitable we will tell you, and talk through what else can help.

Monthly review

Dose, side effects and progress are reviewed every month, alongside practical support with food, movement and the habits that make it last.

Eligibility

Is this right for you?

We support adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 and above where there is a weight-related health condition. Treatment is not appropriate in pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or while trying to conceive, and some thyroid and pancreatic conditions rule it out. Your first appointment establishes whether it is right for you, and says so plainly if it is not.

Start with a consultation

An initial consultation is £60 for thirty minutes. If you would rather talk it through before booking, call the clinic on 0333 335 6414. Some people need blood tests first, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than after you have paid.

Honest about results

Results vary, and anyone who promises you a number has not met you. What we can promise is that your care is overseen by GMC-registered clinicians, follows UK guidance, and begins with a proper medical review.

Safety comes first

Weight-management medicines are not suitable for everyone. That includes people with certain thyroid or pancreatic conditions, those taking insulin, and women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. Mild nausea or digestive discomfort is common in the first few weeks and usually settles. Before starting, a full medical review and blood tests establish whether treatment is appropriate for you, and your clinician explains what to expect before you begin rather than after.

FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we are asked most often about medical weight management.

Does the treatment actually work?

Paired with movement and better food choices, treatment helps manage appetite and improve consistency, which makes the process easier to stick with. It is not a substitute for those changes. We will go through the evidence with you at your consultation and set realistic expectations before you start.

Is it safe?

All care is overseen by GMC-registered clinicians and follows UK guidance, which is why we begin with a medical consultation and blood work rather than a prescription. Some health conditions affect whether treatment is suitable, and we will talk you through all of it at your first appointment.

What support will I get?

Monthly medical reviews, one-to-one support from your care team, and practical help with food, movement and habits. You are not handed a prescription and left to it.

Are there any side effects?

Some people experience mild nausea or digestive discomfort at the start of treatment, and it usually eases within the first few weeks. Your clinician will explain what to expect, how to manage it, and when to adjust your plan.

What will it cost?

The initial consultation is £60 for thirty minutes. Where blood tests are needed they are quoted before you commit, and the cost of any medication is confirmed at your consultation. There are no hidden fees.
