Keep Upright:

Remain upright for 4 hours after the procedure. Avoid lying on your front or in any position that puts pressure on the treated areas.

FAQs

Find answers to commonly asked questions about anti-wrinkle treatments at Eden Clinic.

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections use a prescription-only medicine that temporarily relaxes the small facial muscles that crease the skin. It works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, the chemical messenger nerves use to make muscles contract. The treated muscle softens and the skin above it smooths. The effect fades gradually over three to six months, and treatment is only given after a face-to-face assessment with our prescriber.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

They have a long safety record when prescribed and administered by a qualified clinician. Like any medicine there are potential risks and side effects, and we discuss these with you at your face-to-face assessment before any treatment.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

The effect typically lasts three to six months, and this varies from person to person. Muscle movement returns gradually as the nerve endings recover, and repeat treatment can be planned as it does.

Do anti-wrinkle injections hurt?

The injections use a very fine needle and take only a few minutes. Most patients feel a brief sting at each point rather than pain. A numbing cream can be applied first if you prefer.

Are there any side effects?

The most common are temporary bruising, swelling or redness at the injection points. Rarely, nearby muscles can be affected, for example a temporary heaviness of the eyelid or brow, and this settles as the medicine wears off. If anything concerns you after treatment, contact the clinic.
