Weight Loss

Ozempic, sometimes called the 'skinny jab', is a once-a-week self-administered injection delivered in an easy to use pen.

It contains the active ingredient Semaglutide. It was first licenced as a treatment for people with type 2 diabetes, as it reduces appetite and increases insulin productivity.

We all know weight loss can be difficult and quite disheartening when you calorie count all week and then struggle to control your cravings. Ozempic helps with this and taking it while developing good eating habits and becoming more aware of your dietary habits can help create life long change that can help give you the support needed to get back to a healthier you!

The Ozempic injection has been used in the US for weight loss since 2014 and is used in the UK for management of diabetes. It is likely to get licensed for weight loss this year but is commonly prescribed 'off licence'.

Combined with a healthy diet and appropriate exercise, the injection helps you lose weight without the discomfort of hunger, helping you keep the weight off.

It is available for people with a BMI of 30 or over or those suffering with weight related symptoms.

Does Ozempic Really Work?

Ozempic has been studied quite extensively in multiple clinical trials and evidence clearly shows that more than twice as many patients achieved 5% and 10% body weight loss compared to diet and exercise alone. Have a look at the evidence here.

Is Ozempic Safe?

Although Ozempic is safe for most people, there are some people it should not be used in:

  • People with thyroid disease

  • People with pancreatic disease
