There are so many different treatments for treating lines and wrinkles, it can be hard to know where to start! It starts with good hydration and basic day to day skin care. The daily use of sun screen is an essential to prevent skin damage that results in lines. Neurotoxin’s like Botox and Bocouture also help reduce lines by reducing the muscle movement beneath the skin and stopping the skin folding. This lasts 2-6 months. It’s safe and has about 30 minutes ‘down time’ after the treatment where you may get some swelling or redness around the injection sites. Some people also get bruising.
Injectable skin boosters can also be used to improve skin quality and reduce fine lines. These have about 7 days of downtime while the swelling reduces and the skin booster dissipates into your skin. Dermal fillers are also sometimes used in lines that aren’t fully resolved by a neurotoxin. These can take a week or two to settle and sometimes result in bruising. Radiofrequency is sometimes used to help with finalises. I provide this in my geneO facial. Radiofrequency is felt as heat and it stimulates the body to produce collagen. It also prompts elastin to contract and so has a skin tightening impact.
Radiofrequency can also be delivered deeper into the dermis through micro-needling.
